About

I’m James.

A commercial photographer based in Stamford, Lincolnshire — covering portraits, corporate, schools, property and events across the East Midlands and nationally.

Behind the camera

I photograph the working life of organisations across Lincolnshire, Rutland and the East Midlands — conferences and open days, staff and board portraits, classrooms and campuses, products on the bench, plates coming out of the kitchen, and sites from the air.

Most of my work is commissioned by marketing teams, in-house communications people, PR agencies and business owners who need pictures that do a job: fill a website, carry a prospectus, land a press release, hold a stand together at a trade show. The brief is rarely “make it arty” and more often “make us look like ourselves on a good day” — which suits me.

Shoots are calm and unfussy. I turn up early, work around your day rather than staging it, and put people at ease before the camera comes up — which is the difference between a headshot someone tolerates and one they actually use. Nothing takes longer than it needs to, and nobody has to perform.

Everything comes back edited and sized for web, print and social, in a gallery you can pass straight to the rest of the team. When something is time-sensitive — an event that needs to be on LinkedIn the same evening, a press shot with a deadline on it — a first selection can follow within hours.

How a shoot runs

How a shoot runs

I work around your operation rather than the other way round: people put at ease, nothing staged into stiffness, and the site kept moving. Afterwards you get an edited gallery sized for web, print and social, with commercial usage included.
